KWin compositor does not work with ati-drivers-10.4_beta neither with official Catalyst 10.4

Other 3D applications (e.g. Google Earth) are however working well, so the 3D configuration is fine. Installing the official package from the AMD website does not solve the problem. Which VGA have you? Could it be an hardware-specific issue? KDE version? I have the 4.4.2. If I try to enable the compositor (Alt+Ctrl+F12) it becomes disabled automatically. The same if I forced it enabled from systemsettings.
After actually trying it again now indeed it does NOT work. It has to be an KDE isolated problem because everything else (compiz in Gnome and games) work fine.
after toying around with it some more, it crashed once, not able to find a log, it in the end is working again here. Yep its a bit buggy so it seems!
Can confirm. Moreover, the "Disable functionality checks" option in the panel seems to help a bit. Hope in a fix soon.
