Description FRLinux 2006-12-02 16:52:21 CET
I am attaching the anaconda dump for reference, but here's the issue :

* moving (1) to step enablefilesystems
* parted exception: Error: Error informing the kernel about modifications to
partition /dev/sda16 -- Invalid argument. This means Linux won't know about
any changes you made to /dev/sda16 until you reboot -- so you shouldn't mount
it or use it in any way before rebooting.

I now got Sabayon installed. The issue was that my partitioning wasn't right.
So gparted got really confused and decided to bail out. The fix was to wipe out
the problematic partition and create a new one with fdisk.

This is a bug that I have seen only on anaconda (namely with Fedora Core and
Sabayon), no other Linux installer is affected by this.

Hope this helps.

Sometimes the kernel cannot re-read the partition table, especially on a
previously formatted drive.

We'll sync with latest anaconda code for SL 3.4.

So, at least for now, I am going to close this bug.
